Who says you can't enjoy city life in summer? With slower rhythms, less traffic, and tables easier to come by (heat permitting), August might just be the perfect time to rediscover restaurants, pizzerias, gelaterias and venues that continue welcoming Milanese and visitors alike. Here's a selection of excellent dining spots where you won't have to worry about summer closures.

Barbacoa

Barbacoa Milano stays open throughout August — a Brazilian churrascaria housed in the former Cinema Istria in the Maggiolina district (closed only on Ferragosto). The restaurant offers traditional churrasco rodízio, with various grilled meat cuts served tableside by passadores, accompanied by Brazilian sides and tropical fruit desserts. Fresh summer cocktails like lime, passion fruit and strawberry caipirinhas pair perfectly with dinner. Address: Via Scipio Slataper, 19.

Crocca

Crocca is also open — a pizzeria founded in 2021 that brings a modern reinterpretation of Roman-style pizza to the city, with quality ingredients and a more urban, convivial approach. The summer menu features new additions such as 'Sapori dell'Orto' (smoked provola, courgette cream, king oyster mushrooms and toasted pine nuts), 'Sole e Sale' (Agerola fior di latte, yellow tomatoes and Mediterranean anchovies), and 'Armonia Amara' (rocket cream, juniper-smoked speck, walnuts and liquorice powder). Contraste

Contraste isn't going on holiday. Chef Matias Perdomo's Milan restaurant will stay open throughout August, welcoming guests with its Riflesso and Riflessioni tasting journeys. A chance to experience, even in summer, the gastronomic adventure that for ten years has made playfulness, surprise and dialogue with the diner its signature hallmark.

Sea Signora

Sea Signora, Antonio Fresa's seafood restaurant on via Fiori Chiari in the heart of Brera, stays open to bring essential, contemporary seafood cuisine to Milan. The menu emphasises raw ingredient quality, with abundant crudo, seafood platters and dishes that blend Mediterranean tradition with Middle Eastern influences. Offerings include carpacci with various sauces, Mazara prawns, oysters, scallops, seafood pasta, and mains like grilled fish and monkfish.

Sant Ambroeus

Sant Ambroeus remains open every day, Ferragosto included, welcoming customers from breakfast through to aperitivo, dinner and beyond. In its special 90th anniversary year, this historic Milanese establishment celebrates with two new creations: the 'Principessa 90' — a reinterpretation of its famous cake with orange cream and burgundy coating — and the 'Milano '36' cocktail, a tribute to the city featuring Aperol, Amaretto Adriatico Bianco, Molinari and fresh citrus. Langosteria

Langosteria keeps four Milan locations open, offering diverse experiences across seafood, traditional cuisine and cocktails. Open all month are Langosteria Bistrot in the Darsena area, Langosteria Montenapoleone, Pepe Barra Italiana, and Ally's Bar — dedicated to mixology and signature cocktails.

Etereo at Casa Brera

On the eighth floor of Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Etereo is the place for those who want to see Milan from above. With views of the Duomo, the city's rooftops and a 360° Milan panorama, the sky bar and restaurant is the perfect starting point for aperitivo. Terrazza Gallia

The rooftop bar at Excelsior Hotel Gallia stays open daily throughout August, offering aperitivo with city views. Located next to Stazione Centrale, the bar serves signature cocktails prepared by mixologists using selected botanicals, alongside a seasonally-driven food menu covering lunch and dinner too. BASE Milano

For summer 2026, BASE Milano expands its programming and, for the first time, stays open in August with a calendar of events designed to accompany the city all season long. In its tenth anniversary year, BASE announces a summer of music, festivals, cinema, performances, talks and participatory moments, involving artists, creative communities and new projects. CiaccoLab Gelateria

Amidst Milan's sweltering heat you'll also find CiaccoLab — Stefano Guizzetti's gelateria on via Spadari 13, closing only from 15-17 August. Originally a chemist who became a gelato maker, Guizzetti is now one of the sector's most respected names thanks to an approach rooted in research, ingredient quality and natural processes. His Milan laboratory continues producing gelato and sorbets made with carefully selected local, seasonal ingredients — with no additives whatsoever, natural or artificial.
