Less than two hours' drive from Barcelona lies one of Spain's most breathtaking natural wonders — Salt de la Foradada. Hidden in the tiny village of Cantonigròs (municipality of l'Esquirol), this secret spot sits beyond a trail and a rocky amphitheatre, forming a magical natural landscape that makes you forget the troubles and schedules of adult life.
The only way to reach this waterfall is through a natural hole in the rock — hence the name "Foradada" (meaning "pierced"). The trail spans several kilometres and anyone can complete it, though the return journey requires tackling about 200 metres of elevation gain. A maximum of 250 people are allowed between 10am and 6pm, and visitors are urged to respect the rules and the environment. Outside these hours, access is unrestricted.

Just Half an Hour from Catalonia's Tallest Waterfall
Less than a 30-minute drive from Cantonigròs takes you to the breathtaking Salt de Sallent — the tallest waterfall in all of Catalonia. The trail is similar to the Foradada route but slightly longer, winding through dramatic gorge scenery before culminating in panoramic views of the cascade. For those wanting to extend the hike, a historic stone bridge lies less than a kilometre away.
