The perfect way to experience autumn in Kansai, hidden in the countryside of Gifu and Shiga! Set off easily from Nagoya for a one‑day tour connecting four seasonal limited‑time attractions — from daytime strolls through maple forests and waterfalls, centuries‑old shrines, and a literati's historic hermitage, to evening illuminated maple views, paired with a luxurious Omi beef teppanyaki dinner. Capture Kansai's richly layered late‑autumn scenery in one trip.

The first stop is the utterly soothing Yoro Park, where more than 3,000 maple and ginkgo trees grow in clusters. In late autumn, the reds, oranges and golds interweave across the park, unfolding a brilliant autumn landscape. Stroll leisurely along the romantic maple‑lined paths, and visit the serene Yoro Waterfall along the way. The babbling stream paired with mountains of crimson leaves offers shifting scenery at every step — poetic and enchanting — making it a highly popular autumn foliage spot among locals.

Next, head to the historic Ama‑no‑Hito Shrine to check out the prefectural natural monument — a giant ginkgo tree over a century old. At the peak of autumn, the tree's golden fallen leaves carpet the shrine's courtyard and approach path, resembling a natural gilded carpet. The ancient shrine set against autumn leaves is full of ambience, with every frame a stunning autumn picture. Then step into the tranquil Amanomori Hōshū‑an, the former residence of a renowned Edo‑period Confucian scholar. The serene Japanese garden is surrounded by red maples and orange leaves — quiet and elegant — letting you fully enjoy an autumnal peace far from the hustle and bustle.

After feasting your eyes on the ancient charm of autumn maples all day, the evening opens a feast for your taste buds! Enjoy an exquisite teppanyaki dinner at Sekigahara Hanabuki, featuring premium Omi beef steak and salt‑grilled roast beef as dual main courses — tender, juicy and richly aromatic. The set also comes with Omi beef soup noodles, teppan rice crackers, refreshing salad and traditional gluten dessert — a one‑stop taste of premium local autumn delicacies.

The grand finale is a season‑limited night view — the historic Kyōrinbō‑ji Temple. Legend has it that the temple was built by Prince Shōtoku, and evening visits are open only in autumn. After nightfall, thousands of bamboo poles are illuminated, setting off more than 300 gorgeous maple trees. The interplay of lights and maple shadows swaying together creates a dreamlike autumn nightscape found nowhere else in Kansai, bringing this autumn journey to a perfect close.
