Round‑trip from Sapporo with hassle‑free travel — no planning needed, effortlessly enjoy autumn Hokkaido scenery

Want to experience Hokkaido's autumn beauty and local experiences all in one go? This limited‑time one‑day tour departing from Sapporo is perfect for you! From late September, when the autumn colours begin to unfold, you'll visit four classic areas — Jozankei, Hoheikyo, Yoichi and Otaru — covering maple viewing, seasonal fruit picking, sake tasting and canal sunset views. The relaxed pacing means no rushing around, and the tour operates with just 1 participant. Effortlessly unlock the charm of autumn Hokkaido.

This tour focuses on the autumn‑only Jozankei & Hoheikyo maple scenery (expected foliage period: late September – mid‑to‑late October). Hoheikyo Gorge is hidden within the secluded "Top 100 Water Source Forests". Around the arched dam upstream of the Toyohira River, the area is surrounded by primeval forests and columnar jointed valleys. When autumn arrives, the mountainsides are covered in vibrant red maples, creating breathtaking views. The entire journey up the mountain is on an eco‑friendly electric bus; from the dam's pedestrian walkway, you can overlook the crystal‑clear lake and layered maple scenery, enjoying serene natural beauty. If the electric bus is out of service, the tour will instead visit Jozankei Futami Park and Futami Suspension Bridge to continue admiring the spectacular valley maples.

The tour offers two flexible options! Option A visits Yoichi NITORI Yamamoto Tourist Orchard, which has a 143‑year history. The vast orchard produces seasonal fruits such as grapes, apples and pears. You can pick and eat as much as you like, savouring the full aroma of autumn fruits. The fruit selection depends on seasonal weather and on‑site availability; if the orchard is closed, a nearby orchard will be used as a substitute. Option B visits Tanaka Sake Brewery Kamegakura, established in 1899, where you can tour the city‑designated historic stone warehouse and the sake brewing process, tasting Otaru‑exclusive sake brewed from Hokkaido rice and snowmelt spring water. If the brewery is closed, the sightseeing time at other spots will be extended.

In the evening, head to the picturesque Otaru Canal, stroll along the historic warehouse district and retro streets, and wait as the sunset spreads across the canal's surface, soaking in the full exotic atmosphere. This single journey connects natural autumn scenery, local cuisine and cultural sake brewing heritage — effortlessly creating rich and unforgettable autumn memories of Hokkaido.
