City introduction

Sapporo

Sapporo is the capital of Hokkaido, the gateway to Japan's northern region, with four distinct seasons. Ōdōri Park is the city's core, offering captivating scenery with cherry blossoms in spring, lavender in summer, and giant snow sculptures during the winter Snow Festival. The night view from Mount Moiwa overlooks the city lights. Shiroi Koibito Park feels like a fairy-tale world where you can observe chocolate-making. Nijo Market and the Outer Market offer a dazzling array of seafood. The most renowned local dishes include miso ramen (rich and hearty), Genghis Khan grilled lamb (fragrant Hokkaido lamb), soup curry (generous ingredients with bold flavours), and seafood donburi (topped with sea urchin and salmon roe). Sapporo beer, crisp and refreshing, is the perfect companion to these dishes.
