About the Host
We are authentic local chefs from Shantou, having studied under the Chaoshan cuisine master Chen Wenxiu for many years, learning about Chaoshan cuisine and related foods. We have unique insights into Chaoshan cuisine, dim sum, and snacks. We run a restaurant locally, and my fellow chefs and I absolutely love cooking. After freeing ourselves from daily operations, we decided to set up a workshop to dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to sharing food.

Experience Introduction
"Eat in Guangzhou, taste in Chaoshan." I am a native Shantou local, and a Shantou local definitely won't take you to overly commercialised places like Small Park to eat! I will lead you to truly discover time‑honoured local eateries that even locals might not know about, while also experiencing Shantou's local street culture.
Each experience, you will get to taste about 5‑7 kinds of local food or drinks, such as tofu pudding, sweet soup, rice cake snacks, lard porridge, sugar‑onion wafer, rice noodle rolls, and a mysterious herbal tea. Since I know about 45 old shops in the old city area, I won't list them all here.
Besides the food, I will also take you to visit a local wet market to learn about the dietary culture shaped by Chaoshan's unique geographical position. I will introduce you, as a local, to the most authentic stories, etiquette, architectural styles, living habits, and some peculiar tales of the old city area.

First, we will gather at Sanshenren in the old city area. Then, we will explore the restaurants favoured by locals along the food street, Jinxin Road. Along the way, we will walk through some distinctive neighbourhoods and the local wet market as needed to gain a deeper understanding of Shantou's street culture. Places like Small Park, which only showcase local commercial culture, don't need me, a native local, to take you there. Participants hoping to taste the flavours of their own hometowns should not sign up, as we are tasting genuinely authentic local food, and the flavours may not meet your expectations.
Other Notes:
It is best to wear a pair of comfortable sports shoes, as we will need to walk a certain distance. Vegetarians can also join this food tour, but it is not suitable for strict vegans.
Reference Menu:
Five‑fruit sweet soup, rice cake snacks, braised snacks, sugar‑onion wafer, rice noodle rolls, fermented bean curd cake, green bean cake
