Enoshima Aquarium

Located on the Shonan coast in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Enoshima Aquarium sits right by the sea and adjacent to Enoshima Island, making it one of the most popular marine‑themed attractions around Tokyo. First opened in 1954 and renovated in 2004, the aquarium centres on the concept of "recreating the ecosystem of Sagami Bay", combining a massive aquarium tank, dreamlike creature displays and natural sea views to create a healing destination that is both spectacular, interactive and educational. It is the perfect addition to family trips, romantic dates, and Kamakura–Enoshima itineraries.

Key Highlights

The 9‑Metre Sagami Bay Tank: Bringing the Ocean Indoors — As the aquarium's signature exhibit, this tank stands about 9 metres high and is 10 times the size of a typical aquarium tank, housing over 100 species and more than 20,000 marine animals. From large fish to tiny plankton, it faithfully recreates the ecosystem where the "Oyashio Current" meets the "Kuroshio Current" in Sagami Bay. Standing before the tank, visitors can feel the grandeur and biodiversity of the deep sea at first hand.

Enoshima Aquarium enjoys an unbeatable location with sweeping views over Enoshima Island

Marvel at the stunning scenery of Shonan Coast and the majestic Mount Fuji! You'll want to come back again and again.

Perfect for a romantic date too! The stunningly large tank recreates the sights of Sagami Bay, while the dreamy, ethereal jellyfish space transports you to a world of fantasy.

Let the adorable Asian small‑clawed otters and capybaras soothe your soul!

Jellyfish Dream Hall: A World‑Class Dreamlike Photo Spot — Thanks to over 60 years of breeding and research expertise, the aquarium has created a world‑class jellyfish display space. Fourteen species of jellyfish are housed across 14 tanks, including giant species such as the Pacific sea nettle. The centrepiece spherical tank, paired with 6 daily light‑and‑music shows where pink and purple lights intertwine with the drifting movements of the jellyfish, creates an immersive atmosphere that is widely recognised as a top destination for photography enthusiasts.

Sea‑View Dolphin Show: A Double Delight of Nature and Interaction — The performance stage uses the Shonan Coast as its natural backdrop, and on clear days you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance. As dolphins interact playfully with their trainers, they occasionally splash water at the audience for a bit of fun. Two limited shows are held daily, combining light effects for an experience that is both heart‑warming and memorable — a firm favourite with visitors of all ages.

Interactive Encounters + Unique Creatures: An Immersive Marine Experience — There is a touch pool where you can get up close to marine life from the Enoshima coastline, as well as interactive zones featuring adorable capybaras and Asian small‑clawed otters. A dedicated sea turtle exhibit open all year round and deep‑sea creature displays developed in collaboration with marine research institutions let visitors learn about ocean life effortlessly while having fun.

Limited‑Time Experiences + Local Collaborations: Unlock More Fun — Summer brings nighttime light displays, while winter offers encounters with seasonal creatures such as the "sea angels". The in‑house Ocean Café also serves themed treats like turtle‑shaped bread. The aquarium sits close to attractions such as Enoshima Island and Kamakurakoko‑mae Station, making it easy to combine into a half‑day or full‑day trip. After your visit, take a leisurely stroll along the Shonan Coast to enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunset.
