Kanagawa Prefecture (Japanese: 神奈川県 / かながわけん Kanagawa Ken) is a first-level administrative division located in the southwestern part of the Kanto region of Japan. Kanagawa Prefecture is home to numerous museums and art galleries. The Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, established in 1951, is the first public modern art museum in Japan, housing about 15,000 exhibits. Kanagawa Prefecture also features artist-focused museums such as the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum and the Kawasaki City Okamoto Taro Museum. Hakone is a major concentration area for private art museums in Japan, including the POLA Museum, the Hakone Museum of Art, and the Hakone Open-Air Museum. The Yokosuka Museum of Art and the Hiratsuka Museum of Art are representative art museums of the Miura Peninsula and the Shonan region. Kenchinjiru is said to have originated from Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura City and is a representative traditional local cuisine of Kanagawa Prefecture. The tofu dishes in the Oyama area are also a representative traditional local cuisine of Kanagawa Prefecture.
