Zhongshan Zhan Garden, also known as Zhongshan Big Mansion, is located in the southwestern suburb of Zhongshan City. It is currently the largest classical private garden in the Lingnan region, divided into three areas: Zhan Garden Birthday Celebration, Qijiang Corridor Bridge, and Zhan Mansion Blessing. The architecture of Zhan Garden is based on Suzhou and Hangzhou garden styles, combined with the layout of the Lingnan water village, integrating the natural scenery of Huzhou Mountain and Beixi River with the garden structures, forming a harmonious architectural style that unites heaven and humanity.

🌟 Attraction Highlights
Exquisite Architecture, Unity of Heaven and Humanity: The garden is divided into three major areas: Zhan Garden Birthday Celebration, Qijiang Corridor Bridge, and Zhan Mansion Blessing. The five courtyards are arranged in a well‑proportioned manner, blending Huizhou‑style gables, Suzhou‑style pavilions, and Lingnan water village features. The longest covered bridge in Lingnan spans the lake, while Huzhou Mountain, Beixi River, and the garden structures seamlessly integrate, offering changing views with every step.
Core of Filial Piety Culture, Profound Humanity: The "Hundred Good Deeds, Filial Piety First" stone archway and the Filial Piety Culture Corridor run through the entire garden, continuously passing down Chinese filial virtues. Ancient structures such as Wenchang Pavilion, Qingyin Pavilion, Lake Heart Pavilion, and Nine‑Bend Corridor hide scholarly elegance and family sentiments.
Immersive Experience, Full of Fun: Daily scheduled traditional performances include face‑changing, Kung Fu tea art, and Cantonese opera. The lotus pond moon gate and bamboo shadow flower windows in the garden are excellent photo spots, making visitors in Hanfu feel like they are in a painting. Families can participate in zodiac treasure hunts and traditional craft experiences, suitable for all ages.

The architectural structure of Zhan Garden is simple yet dignified, with a rustic and unrestrained style. Most materials used are old folk materials, with each brick, tile, door, and window embodying historical traces. It also incorporates Western garden styles, with water features and decorations often in geometric forms. The courtyard is elegant and well‑layered, with careful site selection and concise, clean designs.

Zhan Garden was personally designed by the garden owner, Mr. Huang Yuanxin, as a tranquil and elegant retreat for his parents to enjoy their later years. To honour his father's love and forever remember his mother's kindness, the owner named the bridge after his father and the garden after his mother's surname, and also set up a "Filial Piety Hall" with paintings of the "Twenty‑Four Filial Exemplars" hanging inside. Today, Zhan Garden has gradually formed a precious artistic landscape of "one mountain, one water, one garden; poetic, picturesque, and leisurely".
