Attraction Highlights
The Former Residence of Sun Yat‑sen is arguably the most famous sightseeing spot in Zhongshan. Visitors who come here will be deeply impressed by the four large golden characters “天下爲公” (The World Belongs to All) outside the scenic area, which is also a popular photo spot for tourists. The venue faces east with its back to the west, with Sun Yat‑sen's former residence in Cuiheng Village as the core building. It is open to the public in the form of museum exhibitions. On 12 November 1866, Sun Yat‑sen was born right here. This exhibition hall is not only a place to learn about patriotism, but also a great spot to understand the folk customs of the era when Sun Yat‑sen lived. Many of the displays inside the residence still maintain the scene from 1892–1895 when Sun Yat‑sen returned home to live. In 1934, the residence was placed under the management of the then National Government. After several changes of hands, it was listed as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1986.
