Barbican Cinema Hosts Double-Bill Screening of The Last Responders and Blow Out
The Barbican Cinema 1 is hosting a special double-bill screening event on Thursday 24 September 2026 at 19:00. The programme features two films that focus on listening as a tool for investigation and uncovering hidden truths, presented with an introduction by Caline Matar, deputy director of Earshot.

The screening includes The Last Responders (2026), a 50-minute documentary directed by Mohamed A. Gawad and created through a collaboration between Forensic Architecture and Earshot. The film examines an attack by the Israeli military using testimony, audio analysis, and spatial reconstruction. This is paired with Brian De Palma's 1981 thriller Blow Out, running at 1 hour and 47 minutes, which follows a sound recordist entangled in a political conspiracy after capturing evidence of a suspected murder.

Standard tickets are priced at £15.50, which includes a £14 ticket cost plus a £1.50 transaction fee. Member tickets are available for £11.20. Concession rates apply for students, Universal Credit claimants, and over-65s at £12.70, while tickets for those under 18 are £7.50, and Young Barbican members can attend for £6. Access tickets are £15.50 and include a free essential companion ticket upon registration for the venue's Access Scheme. Visitors booking two ticketed events as part of the Lawrence Abu Hamdan: Repercussions takeover receive a 20 percent discount, while booking three or more events grants a 30 percent discount.

Barbican Cinema 1 is located on Level -2 of the main Barbican building at Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8DS. Visitors can access the venue by heading to Level G and walking towards the Lakeside Terrace to find the stairs and lifts. Public transport options include local bus, tube, and train services.
