Discover Modernist Art Techniques in Barcelona

Art enthusiasts and cultural travellers visiting Barcelona next spring can look forward to an international symposium hosted at the prestigious Museu Picasso. Titled Anglada-Camarasa, Picasso and their Contemporaries: Materiality, Innovation and Failure Phenomena (c.1890-1930), the two-day academic event is scheduled to take place on 11 and 12 March 2027 in the museum's auditorium, located at Carrer Montcada, 17.

The symposium focuses on the artistic materials, creative techniques, degradation processes, and conservation challenges associated with paintings created between 1890 and 1930. Bringing together global experts from renowned institutions—including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Getty Conservation Institute, and the Smithsonian Museum Conservation Institute—the gathering aims to foster international collaboration and advance research into modern art preservation.
