Bangkok officially named the world's best city for nightlife in 2026
The Thai capital leaps from 13th place to the top spot, dethroning legendary party cities around the globe.
Get ready to celebrate your next night out — Time Out has just unveiled its ranking of the world's best cities for nightlife in 2026, and the good news is that Bangkok has taken the number-one crown. It surged from 13th place last year, with the ranking backed by a global public survey combined with in-depth insight from Time Out's network of nightlife writers.

Bangkok beat out a host of long-reigning party capitals, with Berlin, New York, Melbourne and São Paulo rounding out the top five.
In our view, there has never been a better time to enjoy a night out in Bangkok. Clubs like DUAL and Bar Temp stay buzzing almost every night, while new rooftop bars continue to open across the city — from ÆTHER, a cocktail bar on the 44th floor of Dusit Central Park with 360-degree city views, to Sato San, a Japanese-style bar with a northeastern (Isan) twist on the 32nd floor of Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong.
The venue Sala Saneha, housed in a 70-year-old building on Soi Decho, is another spot worth seeking out, gathering a wine bar, restaurant, small cinema and bookshop under one roof — with a team whose simple wish is to "make the cinema romantic again".
Yet the real reason Bangkok took the crown isn't just its bars and clubs. The city's party scene is never confined indoors — it spills out into streets that stay lively and safe well into the night.

Take a walk into Soi Nana in Yaowarat, a narrow lane hiding bars and restaurants in old shophouses, including G.O.D (Genius on Drugs), Tep Bar and Ba Hao, which fold Chinese culture into the world of cocktails — or Sing Sing Theater, a club-cum-cabaret famous for its red lanterns that fans may recognise from season three of The White Lotus.
Across Bangkok you'll also find Thai-themed bars where great food and good music are part of the draw.
Of course, nightlife doesn't revolve around the dance floor alone. When it comes to late-night eating, Bangkok is second to none, with kitchens across the city appearing on countless "best of" lists, from multi-course fine dining to sizzling street-food woks right in front of you.
Thonglor and Silom remain the two most talked-about districts, especially Silom, which is packed with LGBTQ+-run bars and clubs that welcome everyone — whether drag-queen bars or spaces made for women.
So if you're looking for a reason to go out and celebrate tonight, Bangkok may have already given you one. With daytime temperatures this hot, it's no surprise the city comes alive most after sunset.
In short, if you're not already heading out for a great meal followed by a drink at your favourite bar, we're not sure what else to tell you.
