Summer Studios, which swung open its doors in late June, is part café, part listening lounge — a space where organic matcha from Kagoshima meets a carefully curated soundtrack. On weekdays, the vibes are mellow and beachy; come the weekend, resident DJs turn up the energy with live sets channeling an endless-summer groove.
The drink menu is built around matcha with tropical twists. The strawberry matcha (¥1,250) manages a delicate balance — fruity sweetness that never overwhelms the grassy brightness of the tea. For maximum summer feels, go for the mango matcha (¥1,250). And if you need something bolder, the matcha craft cola (¥980) delivers a spiced, fizzy jolt perfect for Tokyo's sweltering August afternoons.
Take-home matcha powders are also on offer: a ceremonial-grade organic variety (¥5,500) and a more accessible organic option (¥4,000), both sourced from Kagoshima.
The sound is as thoughtfully designed as the drinks. A pair of handcrafted wooden speakers — custom-built by Silence Please, a New York design studio known for turning hi-fi equipment into collectible art pieces — were shipped from the US to deliver an exceptional listening experience that rivals the quality of the matcha itself.
