Product Details

Nagoya Aquarium is the best place to observe marine life up close. It mainly consists of the South Building (1992) and the North Building (2001). Although not as large as the aquariums in Okinawa or Osaka, the variety of exhibits is no less impressive, including dolphins, killer whales, beluga whales, and various tropical fish.

Aquarium

The theme of the South Building is a journey to Antarctica. Starting from Nagoya, it takes you on an ocean journey towards the Earth's South Pole, divided into five exhibition halls: Japan's Sea, Deep Sea Gallery, Equatorial Sea, Australian Waters, and Antarctic Sea, allowing you to see a wide variety of marine life.

In the North Building, you will travel back 3.5 billion years to experience the evolution of marine life firsthand.

Among all exhibits, you absolutely cannot miss the most popular dolphin show in the largest pool in the aquarium, where the splashes are so close they almost reach you. The pool, measuring 60m long, 30m wide, and with a maximum water depth of 12m, is Japan's largest man‑made swimming pool, accommodating up to 3,000 people. While enjoying the spectacular dolphin performance, they also maintain their natural living state. Seeing such adorable dolphins, can you still contain your excitement?

Attractions Introduction

1. Nagoya Port Garden Pier, where there are many other fun and attractive facilities. From the 53m‑high port building observatory, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nagoya Port.

2. The Antarctic Research Ship Fuji, which once served as an Antarctic icebreaker. Following the Antarctic route of the research ship "Fuji", it recreates the natural environment for aquatic life in five areas: "Japan's Sea", "Deep Sea", "Equatorial Sea", "Australia", and "Antarctic Sea". The IMAX video projection on a massive 17m x 23m screen provides an immersive experience. The Marine Theatre can accommodate 350 people, and there are also video facilities such as the deep‑sea submersible "Aviz", which can hold 25 people for a deep‑sea experience.

3. Nagoya Maritime Museum, with the theme of "Japan's Premier International Trade Port ‑ Nagoya Port", uses real objects and models to recreate the important role of Nagoya Port as Japan's number one trading port and its significance to the nation's livelihood. The Nagoya Port Building floats like a white sailboat on the sea, with a height of 63 metres above ground and a floor area of 6,503 square metres. Located at the junction of the sea and land, it introduces the sea, ships, and ports, and also features an observatory, lecture hall, and meeting rooms, making it a great place for citizens to fully engage with the sea.
