Itinerary Introduction

The stunning autumn scenery of Kanto extends far beyond central Tokyo! Day 1 Lakeside Railway Autumn Views|Oku‑Oi Lake Station + Minami Alps Abt Line

On the first day, head to the ultra‑secluded Oku‑Oi Lake Station. This quiet station built by the lake appears to float above the water. It is extremely difficult to reach by car or public transport, making it a hidden maple‑viewing spot known only to locals. From here, ride Japan's only Abt rack‑and‑pinion railway on the Oigawa Railway's Minami Alps Line. The train slowly travels along the foot of the Southern Alps as maple leaves outside the window gradually turn red, with shades of red, orange, and gold interwoven. The lake, mountains, and autumn leaves reflect each other beautifully — every frame is a stunning autumn picture. Best viewing time: mid‑November to late November.

Day 2 Valley & Ancient Temple Autumn Charm|Korankei Valley + Ryutan‑ji Temple + Shikizakura

On the second day, embark on a classic autumn foliage route and visit Korankei Valley, one of Japan's top maple viewing destinations. The area is home to approximately 4,000 maple trees. During autumn, the mountains are covered in layered red leaves, with streams gently flowing through the valley and maple reflections dancing on the water. The scenery differs beautifully between day and night, and the generous visiting time lets you capture autumn's finest colours — approximately 2 hours of sightseeing. Best viewing time: mid‑November to early December. Afterwards, visit the serene ancient Ryutan‑ji Temple, where old temple architecture and red maples complement each other in a tranquil, healing atmosphere, allowing you to experience the zen of autumn. Finally, stop by the rare Shikizakura (autumn‑blooming cherry blossoms). The combination of autumn red leaves and seldom‑seen cherry blossoms creates a unique scenery where maples and cherries coexist — a romantic surprise exclusive to autumn.

After a full day of autumn foliage sightseeing, relax in a traditional Japanese hot spring while gazing at the lakeside autumn night scenery, washing away the fatigue of travel and immersing yourself in the comfort of a Japanese hot spring resort.
