Escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and head to Nikko to experience the vibrant autumn atmosphere. A one‑day autumn foliage tour featuring stunning red leaves, magnificent waterfalls and a World Cultural Heritage site is now open!

Ride through the legendary 48 curves of Irohazaka Slope. The maple forests on both sides of the winding mountain road are ablaze with vibrant autumn colours, with bright red leaves covering the mountainside. As the road rises and falls, a flowing autumn picture unfolds, and every bend hides an unexpectedly stunning photo spot. Next, visit Kegon Falls, one of Japan's three greatest waterfalls. In autumn, the falls shed the surging momentum of midsummer and take on a serene beauty, offering a completely different scene from summer. The lake surface reflects the gorgeous silhouettes of the maple trees, with the water and autumn leaves blending together like a breathtaking masterpiece painted by nature.

Take a leisurely stroll along the tranquil shores of Lake Chuzenji, with the gentle autumn breeze sweeping across the water. Capture your own private travel moments here — years later, when you look back at the photos, you will still recall the romantic autumn ambiance of this lakeside day. Next, arrive at Nikko's landmark, the Shinkyo Bridge. The striking vermilion arched bridge spans the emerald‑green rushing Daiya River. Crossing this sacred bridge feels like transcending the boundary of the mundane world, officially stepping into the spiritual realm of Nikko.

The highlight of the tour is the visit to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, a World Cultural Heritage site, where ancient cedar trees surround the resplendent historic buildings. Admire the exquisite lifelike wood carvings in detail and listen to the legendary tales of the feudal shoguns of old. Stroll slowly along the maple‑lined paths around Toshogu Shrine, where historic architecture, ancient pines and fiery red maple leaves complement each other — every step reveals a new scene of Japanese autumn beauty.

This Nikko one‑day tour perfectly combines magnificent natural scenery, Instagram‑worthy photo spots and rich Japanese cultural heritage. No need to worry about travelling companions — solo travellers can easily join the tour, and there is no need to wait for group formation. Don't miss the 2026 Nikko autumn‑exclusive foliage spectacle. Seize the short peak foliage season and set off to capture Nikko's unique autumn beauty!
