Introduction to the “Lotus Water Puppet” Show

The secret lies in the puppets themselves. They are made from buoyant fig wood and coated with lacquer. The puppeteers skilfully manipulate the puppets’ arms using bamboo rods and strings.

Water puppetry is physically demanding. The puppeteers stand in the water throughout the entire performance, using the flow of the water to create dramatic effects and illusions.
