Attractions Guide

End your day with a spectacular trip to the majestic Cheonjiyeon Falls in Jeju! Cheonjiyeon Falls is a favourite spot for locals in Seogwipo to take a stroll, and it is the only waterfall that stays open until late at night.

Here, you can admire the breathtaking views of Cheonjiyeon Falls and watch an amazing sunset from the nearby Saeyeongyo Bridge.

If you time it right, you can also catch a laser light show and fountain performance.

In addition, you can hike over to Saeseom, explore the street themed around Korean contemporary artist Double Sub, and browse unique souvenirs and street food at Maeil Olle Market to experience the charm of Jeju Island.

Attraction Highlights

Cheonjiyeon Falls

One of Jeju's three major waterfalls, this three‑tiered waterfall is hidden within a subtropical forest. Legend has it that seven fairies descended to bathe here, and it is also a classic filming location for the hit drama "Dae Jang Geum".

Unique sunset scenery: As the evening sun casts its glow on the cliff face, the natural rock formations resembling human silhouettes become clearer, with golden light highlighting the flowing water — perfect for photo opportunities and a popular sunset spot in Seogwipo.

Must‑visit spots include Seonimgyo Bridge, adorned with carvings of the seven fairies; Obok Spring, where you can toss a coin for good luck; and Cheonjegak Pavilion, offering panoramic views of the entire stream valley. The walking paths are gentle and easy, suitable for all ages.

The pool is crystal clear, home to wild conger eels, and the forest air is fresh, making for a very comfortable stroll.

Practical Information

Opening Hours: Open all year round, 09:00‑22:00, last entry at 21:20 (you can stay until dusk to watch the sunset). No closed days.

Admission: Adults 2,500 KRW; Children / Teenagers 1,370 KRW; Free for seniors aged 65 and above

Tips: Wear comfortable hiking shoes. There are fewer visitors at dusk, and the lighting is best for photos during sunset. The market is about a 10‑minute drive away, so after watching the sunset, you can head over for dinner.

Seogwipo's largest traditional all‑day market. "Olle" means "alley" in the Jeju dialect. It is a regular haunt for locals, with fewer tourists, giving it an authentic local vibe. The arcade design means you don't have to worry about the rain.

Best atmosphere in the evening: After 5pm, all the stall lights come on and it transforms into a night market with a wide variety of snacks — a one‑stop spot to taste all of Jeju's specialities.

Must‑try treats: Grandma's tangerine mochi (a whole Jeju tangerine wrapped in red bean paste), grilled black pork buns, spicy stir‑fried rice cakes, flame‑grilled prawns, fresh tangerine juice, and seafood pancakes.

Souvenirs to buy: Jeju tangerines, handmade volcanic rock accessories, tangerine chocolate, and dried abalone. Prices are clearly marked, so you won't get ripped off easily.

Practical Information

Opening Hours: Summer 07:00‑21:00; Winter 07:00‑20:00. Open all year round. The night market is liveliest after 5pm.

Address: 18, Jungang‑ro 62beon‑gil, Seogwipo‑si, Jeju

Tips: Some stalls only accept cash, so it's advisable to exchange some Korean won in advance. From Cheonjiyeon Falls, take the city bus for about 15 minutes, or a taxi for about 10 minutes — perfect for a half‑day trip.
