Departing from Hakata Station, Fukuoka, spend a day traversing Kyushu's mythical hidden world, visiting Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, Takachiho Gorge and Amano Iwato Shrine. Amidst the vast wilderness and ancient legends, encounter the unique charm of Miyazaki and enjoy a healing yet fulfilling one‑day journey.

At 08:00 in the morning, depart promptly from Hakata Station, Fukuoka, heading south and bound for the sacred rendezvous in Miyazaki. Arrive at Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine at 10:20. Nestled in the mountains of Takachiho Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, this shrine is hailed as "the forest shrine closest to the gods." A hundred moss‑covered stone lanterns line both sides of the stone steps, with mist lingering all year round. The stone‑paved path beneath your feet carries a thousand years of spiritual energy, as if stepping straight into a hidden realm from another world. As a sacred site where ancient deities descended, this is a place of energy for praying for safety and pouring out one's wishes. A 40‑minute stay is enough to experience its serenity and mystery.

Arrive at Takachiho Gorge at 11:50, a stage for ancient Japanese mythology and a natural wonder designated as a national scenic spot. The V‑shaped deep ravines, carved by volcanic activity at Mt. Aso in ancient times, feature rugged cliffs and babbling streams. Paired with the local specialty beef meal, enjoy 110 leisurely minutes of fine food and beautiful scenery. A friendly reminder: those without the lunch package must return to the meeting point on their own, and due to the limited sightseeing time, we recommend against booking the boat ride experience—simply savour the gorge views before you.

At 14:00, step into Amano Iwato Shrine and Amano Yasukawa to explore the legend of Amaterasu Omikami. According to legend, Amaterasu hid in a cave in anger, plunging the world into darkness. The eight million deities gathered at Amano Yasukawa to devise a plan and ultimately lured her back with laughter, restoring light. The shrine's Eastern Shrine enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, while the cave at the Western Shrine can be visited upon request. Walking upstream along the stream and through the tranquil forest, you will reach Amano Yasukawa, where the deities once gathered. In over 50 minutes of exploration, feel the wonder and sacredness of the myth.

The itinerary is fulfilling yet unhurried, returning smoothly to Hakata Station, Fukuoka at approximately 18:00, bringing the day's mythological journey to a close. A friendly reminder: the visiting order of the scenic spots may be adjusted due to traffic, weather, or other factors—we appreciate your understanding. On this day, we walk into the forest shrine, stroll through the volcanic gorge, trace the footsteps of mythology, and tuck the beauty and sanctity of Miyazaki into our own Kyushu memories.
