Experience a limited‑edition barley miso making workshop in Kagoshima, Japan, and step into a century‑old miso and soy sauce brewery established in 1927. For nearly 100 years, they have adhered to traditional techniques, using local high‑quality soybeans, barley koji, and natural water to craft the sweet and rich Kagoshima barley miso. Under the guidance of a seasoned craftsman, you will go through the entire process hands‑on — from steaming beans, making koji, to mixing and fermentation — all within about 2 hours. Upon completion, you can take home approximately 2 kg of homemade miso and savour the evolving flavours of fermentation over time. You can also tour the factory on‑site and learn about fermented food culture. The venue is conveniently located, making it ideal for family outings, gatherings with friends, and in‑depth cultural travellers. Not only will you pick up practical cooking techniques, but you will also gain a unique handmade souvenir — this is an unmissable speciality food culture experience in Kagoshima, letting you feel the unique charm of Satsuma cuisine.
