Stroll through the Seltún hot spring area and experience the magical transformation of natural hot water and colourful minerals
Cross the lava field formed after the eruption of Fagradalsfjall volcano and explore the latest volcanic relics
Hike amidst the stunning volcanic landscape, approach the volcano that erupted in 2021, and enjoy the power of nature

After being picked up at the designated stop in Reykjavík city centre, we will drive out of the capital area and head towards our destination along the moon‑like landscape of the Reykjanes Peninsula.
At Seltún (depending on the time available for volcano hiking, this stop may be skipped), you can see the effects of geothermal water on the environment. Walk along the wooden boardwalk, passing by boiling and hissing mud pools and natural hot water flowing through the colourful land and rocks. The air is filled with the smell of sulphur, which is emitted by the hot springs.

The hot water underground dissolves sulphur minerals in the rocks and soil, resulting in this unique odour.
There are two viewing platforms overlooking the entire area, where you can enjoy a 360‑degree panoramic view. We will then start the hike, crossing the lava field formed after the 2021 eruption of Fagradalsfjall volcano.

The first part of the hiking route is quite steep, followed by several kilometres of flat terrain. The final section is moss‑covered and rugged, requiring careful walking and is of higher difficulty.
The total hiking time is approximately 2 hours, but may vary depending on the route taken on the day.
We will get as close to the most recent volcano as possible; the distance depends on many factors, including weather conditions. After a day of hiking and exploration, we will return to Reykjavík, concluding this beautiful journey.
