In the town, five red iron bridges cross the Katsuragawa River: Katsura Bridge, Kokei Bridge, Kaede Bridge, Togetsu Bridge and Takishita Bridge, each representing a wish. It is said that if a girl makes a wish and walks across these bridges, her wish will come true! Caodong Sect Sacred Site ‑ Shuzenji Temple
The temple has a history of 1,200 years. It is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi in the early Heian period (807 AD). Legend has it that Kobo Daishi once saw a devoted son wiping his sickly father's body with cold water. Deeply moved, Daishi struck the Katsuragawa River with his walking staff, causing a hot spring to gush forth. The filial son then used the hot spring water to cure his father's illness, and the spring water here has been famous ever since.
