In the Da'an Mountain area of Zhushan, the rapid flow of Jiajouliao Creek cuts through the hard sandstone layers, creating majestic gorges and flowing waters. A Taiwanese folk saying, "One step to the navel, two steps to the eyebrows," vividly describes the difficulty of traversing the local roads. The Nantou County Government has built the Ladder Suspension Bridge here, spanning the 100‑metre‑deep Taiji Gorge, allowing visitors to stand high above and take in the breathtaking views of rocky cliffs and cascading waterfalls. This has earned it the reputation of being the Taroko of the West! The first staircase‑style suspension bridge in Taiwan, it is 136 metres long, with 208 steps and a height difference of 20 metres between the two ends. Located above Ladder Ridge and featuring steps, it was named the "Ladder Suspension Bridge" through a naming campaign, but many people affectionately call it the "Sky Ladder." To experience the boundless charm of the Taiji wonderland, we recommend a hike on the Sky Ladder (Zhushan Ladder Suspension Bridge, Nantou), which will leave you in awe and refresh your body and mind. Enjoy the magnificent scenery and create the most beautiful legend of the mountains.

Zhushan Sky Ladder

With a total length of 136 metres and a height difference of 20 metres between the two ends, it is the second slanting staircase‑style suspension bridge in the world and the first of its kind in Taiwan.
