New Taipei’s ultimate mountain‑and‑sea route is here! Elephant Trunk Rock is a natural sea arch carved by nature’s masterful hand, where the azure sea and blue sky create picture‑perfect moments worthy of any influencer’s feed — a true hidden gem. Longdong’s coastline is lined with cliffs, offering not only stunning ocean views but also outdoor rock climbing for an adrenaline‑filled adventure. Fulong boasts the beautiful Shuangxi River sandbar terrain, where you can enjoy the beach, play in the water, or cycle at leisure — and don’t miss the iconic Fulong bento box. Pinglin is northern Taiwan’s tea country; stroll through the tea plantations, sip on fragrant tea, and escape the hustle and bustle for ultimate relaxation. Bitan, known as ‘Little Chibi’, has a calm lake perfect for SUP stand‑up paddleboarding — professional instructors ensure even beginners feel at ease. By day, soak in the lake and mountain scenery; by night, the suspension bridge lights reflecting on the water create an even more romantic atmosphere. This route combines mountains, sea, and tea culture, with SUP paddling adding heaps of fun — whether you’re on a family trip, a couple’s getaway, or hanging out with friends, this is a must‑visit New Taipei itinerary!

Elephant Trunk Rock is located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. Rising about 50 metres from the sea, Elephant Trunk Rock is truly spectacular — from the ocean, you can see the entire elephant shape, incredibly lifelike and awe‑inspiring at nature’s wonder! The massive sea cave, various strange rocks and boulders, majestic cliffs, and the blue sea and sky create a unique experience that only firsthand experience can truly convey.

The hottest water activity, SUP stand‑up paddleboarding — full name ‘Stand‑Up Paddle’, can be translated as ‘standing paddle’ — is a board sport that combines the principles of surfing and rowing. However, unlike surfing, which requires more difficult balance training, you can stand directly on the board and paddle. Because it’s relatively easy to learn, it has gradually become a craze both domestically and internationally.

Welcome a beautiful day with an energetic sunrise

You can even have a sea battle

Longdong is a renowned tourist attraction on the northeastern coast of Taiwan, named for its bay’s curved shape resembling a coiled dragon. It features Longdong Cape, the Longdong Bay waters, and the oldest rocks and majestic sea cliffs in the entire Northeast Coast Scenic Area. Longdong Cape is composed of sandstone, while Longdong Bay is a bay formed by the rapid retreat of shale and sandy shale under wave erosion; a walkway connects the two for visitors to stroll and enjoy the scenery. Besides engaging in water activities, listening to the waves, sightseeing, swimming, snorkelling, and ecological observation, you can also enjoy outdoor leisure activities like rock climbing and hiking. Orogenic movements 6 million years ago pushed and squeezed the rock layers in the ocean basin, uplifting them into mountains. Weathering and erosion then formed Longdong Cape. At the Shuangxi River in Fulong, Gongliao, on Taiwan’s northeast coast, a beautiful sandy inner river terrain has formed, with elegant arch bridges and suspension bridges shaping the stream scenery. It was once an important birthplace of the Ketagalan tribe’s Sandiao Four Villages civilisation, and also served as a crucial passage along the Danlan Ancient Trail during the development of Yilan, holding significant historical and cultural importance. This abundant and high‑quality river still retains many uncemented natural channels, boasting rich aquatic life, clear water, and a pastoral landscape of summer skies with eagles, dancing dragonflies, frog calls, insect chirps, and wild ginger flowers.

In the upper reaches of the Beishi River, Pinglin is surrounded by mountains, with clear waters and beautiful scenery, offering a pristine natural environment. Amid the noise of modern society, you can release your stress here. Against the picturesque backdrop, paddle SUP on the Beishi River in Pinglin, surrounded by hills and green waters, with the beautiful river ecology accompanying you for a relaxed and carefree time.
