JR Pass is only applicable to non‑Japanese passport holders with a "Temporary Visitor" visa. Non‑Japanese passport holders with permanent residency in Japan are not eligible.

Please obtain a "Temporary Visitor" stamp/sticker upon entry to legally use the JR Pass. If you use the automated gate, you will not be able to obtain the above stamp/sticker.

Japanese passport holders who have resided outside Japan for more than 10 years may legally use the JR Pass, but must hold (1) a valid Japanese passport (2) a copy of overseas household registration/overseas residence certificate issued by the Japanese embassy or the embassy of the country of residence abroad.

Age is determined as of the booking confirmation date.

To collect the JR Pass, please present the exchange voucher and passport at the JR office at the airport or major train stations.

Please note that only exchange vouchers issued in your own name can be used to redeem the JR Pass.

The exchange voucher is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Please redeem the JR Pass using the exchange voucher within 90 days.

When exchanging the pass, please ensure you select an activation date within 30 days after exchange.

The JR Pass is valid for 7 consecutive days after activation.

Seat reservations can be made at the ticket office through station staff.

Reservations can also be made using the reserved seat ticket vending machines.
