Attraction Highlights

Osaka Nagai Botanical Garden teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka is located within Nagai Park in Higashisumiyoshi‑ku, Osaka City. The total area of the garden is approximately 240,000 square metres, home to over 1,200 species of plants, and features a permanent nighttime digital art exhibition. This attraction operates a "dual‑mode" model: during the day, it functions as a traditional botanical garden where visitors can admire various native plants; after sunset, it transforms into an immersive open‑air digital art museum. Leveraging the natural ecosystem of plants, lakes, and more within the garden, it creates multiple interactive art installations. The exhibition area includes six core exhibits such as the Camellia Garden Echoing the Microcosm, the Eucalyptus Life Forest, and the Sculptures of Birds in the Wind. The installations change in light colour and sound in response to wind, rainfall, and visitor movement, allowing visitors to become part of the art creation.

Dual Day‑Night Experience Venue

During the day, visitors can explore the native botanical garden with over 1,200 plant species and appreciate the beauty of nature; after sunset, the garden undergoes a stunning transformation, combining plants, lakes, and digital light and shadow into a dreamlike artistic space, offering a dual harvest of nature appreciation and art experience.

Nature‑Driven Dynamic Interaction

The exhibition installations have no fixed form; they change in light colour and tone based on wind direction and strength, rainfall conditions, as well as visitor movement and touch. Every moment of the viewing experience is unique, embodying a deep connection between art and the natural environment.

Diverse Immersive Art Exhibits

There are six themed exhibition zones, ranging from 61 fixed‑colour egg‑shaped light installations in the Camellia Garden, to echoing lamps on the pond, and light‑and‑shadow sculptures that track actual birds. The exhibits cover different forms of artistic expression, catering to the experiential needs of a wide variety of visitors.

A Symbiosis of People, Art, and Nature

The exhibition area breaks down the boundary between "audience" and "exhibit." Visitors' standing and walking directly trigger changes in the installations, forming a borderless artistic entity that integrates people, light, and the natural ecosystem, achieving a unique experience where "visitors are participants in the art."

Artistic Integration in a Vast Venue

Spread across the 240,000‑square‑metre expansive garden, digital art is distributed among diverse natural settings such as woodlands, lakes, and flower gardens. Unlike enclosed art museums, this allows visitors to gradually explore the art installations while strolling through nature, offering a more layered and immersive experience.
