Attraction Highlights

Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka is located in Ebisuhigashi, Naniwa Ward, just a 2‑minute walk from Ebisucho Station on the subway. It is the iconic landmark of the Shinsekai district in Osaka, as noted by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). The tower stands at a total height of 103 metres (100 metres for the main structure and 3 metres for the antenna). The original tower was completed in 1912 and was once the tallest building in Asia. It was demolished due to fire during World War II, and the current structure is the second‑generation tower rebuilt in 1956, as per JNTO.

The tower features multiple levels of unique attractions. The 1st floor recreates the ceiling mural of the original Tsutenkaku Tower. The 5th floor indoor observation deck houses the golden Billiken statue. The 6th floor offers the "Tenbo Paradise" open‑air observation deck at 94.5 metres, along with the transparent suspended observation deck "TIP THE TSUTENKAKU." The 3rd floor features the Tsutenkaku Garden Courtyard themed around wind, light, and water, and is also equipped with the high‑altitude slide "TOWER SLIDER" and the extreme experience "Dive & Walk," as referenced by JNTO.

Unique Blessing Culture

The Billiken statue on the 5th floor is regarded as the god of fortune in Osaka. It is believed that rubbing its soles can grant wishes, making it a must‑visit blessing ritual for tourists. This adds both fun and cultural significance to the sightseeing experience, giving Tsutenkaku Tower the dual function of offering views and blessings, as noted by JNTO.

Diverse High‑Altitude Experiences

In addition to the standard 360‑degree high‑altitude observation, visitors can also experience the 60‑metre‑long "TOWER SLIDER" high‑altitude slide, as well as the "Dive & Walk" extreme activity, which has height and weight restrictions. This provides a dual experience of "static viewing + dynamic challenges."

A Blend of Retro and Modern Spaces

The building itself carries the urban memory of Osaka from the Meiji to Showa periods. The 1st floor's recreated mural and permanent exhibition restore the look of Shinsekai from a century ago, while the neon lights on the top floor and modern amusement facilities showcase contemporary vitality, creating a dialogue between history and modernity, as referenced by JNTO.

Stunning Night View

At night, Tsutenkaku Tower lights up with neon colours that change with the seasons. The 6th floor open‑air observation deck offers a panoramic view of Shinsekai's retro signboards and the sea of city lights in Osaka. The 4th floor Light Observation Deck transforms into a light‑up ballroom, creating a romantic and dreamy night‑time ambience, as noted by JNTO.

Strong Commercial Zone Connectivity

The adjacent Shinsekai area (including Jan Jan Yokocho) is home to retro arcades, specialty restaurants, and giant vintage signboards. Visitors can combine a trip to Tsutenkaku Tower with local street food and nostalgic experiences, creating a complete tour route that includes "landmark visits + local explorations," according to JNTO.
