"A grand palace banquet embodies half of Chinese etiquette." As the vermilion palace gates slowly open, a cultural journey spanning a thousand years begins. As a signature "traditional culture" performing arts restaurant in Songjiang District, Shanghai, Sheng Gong Yan faithfully recreates the imperial courtyard in the heart of the city based on historical records — golden eaves soaring into the sky, carved pillars standing like ceremonial guards, cloud‑patterned carpets underfoot, and sheer drapes swaying in the breeze. Every step lands upon the light and shadow of history.

The splendour here begins with the eyes and captivates the heart. Guzheng musicians in Hanfu pluck the strings, the melodious notes of "High Mountain and Flowing Water" drifting past the palace lanterns; Kunqu opera masters swirl their water sleeves, the graceful tunes of "The Peony Pavilion" lingering in the air; palace‑costumed dancers move to the rhythm of drums, a fleeting glimpse reminiscent of the glory of the High Tang era. Banquets, cuisine, rituals and music intertwine here, as the splendour of dynasties past is vividly brought to life through professional performances, offering you not only fine dining but also a cultural feast for the senses.

The imperial culinary journey on your palate brings even more delight. The refreshing fragrance of Daqin Shu Tea, the mellow aftertaste of Qinchuan Spring Wine, the delicacy of Qin Palace pastries and the refinement of imperial cold dishes — all are meticulously crafted using time‑honoured techniques. Each dish is a microcosm of history, and every flavour carries the legacy of Chinese culinary etiquette.

A 90‑minute dining experience — history you can touch, culture you can taste. Sheng Gong Yan offers an immersive experience combining ambience, performances and cuisine, inviting you amid the urban bustle to an imperial rendezvous that transcends a thousand years.

Stepping into the restaurant, vermilion tea sets and tableware are elegantly arranged on the tables, exuding classical charm at every turn. The cuisine here is equally refined and exquisite. The appetiser cold platter is served in glazed bowls, plated like a Jiangnan ink painting; the "Kung Pao Crystal Prawns" are plump and coated in an amber glaze; the "Slow‑Braised Beef Short Ribs" are tender and flavourful; the "Crab Roe Tofu" is rich and savoury; and the dessert "Lotus Blossom Pastry" unfurls layer by layer, perfectly complemented by pre‑Mingqian Longjing tea to cleanse the palate with added elegance. The dishes covered by this ticket are equally diverse: teas and wines include maid‑served tea, Daqin Shu Tea, Qin Palace Imperial Brew and Qinchuan Spring Wine (3–5% ABV; alcohol is not provided to minors, and no refund applies); pastries include Qin Palace pastries, house‑made hawthorn cake, traditional chestnut cakes and classic mung bean cakes; imperial cold dishes include imperial duck tongues, banquet lotus root slices and jade pea purée; main courses comprise Qin‑style simmered fish maw, imperial braised pork, sea urchin‑braised tofu, steamed yellow croaker, Jade Plate Peony Prawns, seasonal fresh vegetables and the "Elixir of Immortality"; children's main courses include steamed egg with crab meat, imperial braised pork, crispy prawns with fries (Jade Plate Peony Prawns), fish balls in fresh fish soup, sea urchin‑braised tofu, seasonal fresh vegetables and the "Elixir of Immortality"; the staple is Imperial Three‑Delicacy Noodles; and desserts are osmanthus yoghurt pudding and a fresh fruit platter.
