Attraction Highlights

As one of Japan's three most famous hot springs, with a温泉 culture heritage spanning over 1,300 years, Arima Onsen is the premier healing destination in the Kansai region. "Taiko no Yu," as its largest hot spring theme park, perfectly encapsulates the essence of this thousand‑year‑old spring, offering visitors an immersive Japanese bathing experience.

I. Core Hot Spring Features: Dual Spring Qualities + Diverse Facilities

Taiko no Yu centres on the "Gold Spring" and "Silver Spring," complemented by a wide range of facilities that preserve traditional hot spring culture while meeting modern wellness needs:

Signature Dual Springs:

Gold Spring (Iron‑Salt Spring): The spring water is rich in iron and turns a dark reddish‑brown upon contact with air, naturally radiating warmth. It not only hydrates and nourishes the skin but also relieves muscle soreness — a true "beauty spring."

屏幕截图 2025-11-10 114614.png

Silver Spring (Carbonate Spring): This colourless, transparent water is rich in carbon dioxide, offering a silky‑smooth and refreshing feel. It promotes blood circulation and stimulates metabolism, significantly helping to relieve fatigue and improve digestive discomfort, earning it the reputation of a "health spring."

Premium Stone Sauna Experience: Taiko no Yu's premium stone sauna blends the heritage of a thousand‑year‑old hot spring, using natural minerals as a base to emit gentle far‑infrared rays. The constant, soothing warmth penetrates deep into the body, promoting circulation and easing aches, all within a tranquil Japanese ambience and pristine environment. Enjoy deep healing without even soaking. The experience after bathing is even more effective for detoxification and rejuvenation — an elevated choice for stress relief and wellness. Full‑Spectrum Bathing Experience: Within the approximately 7,000㎡ park, besides the two signature springs, there are 26 types of特色 baths, a golden steam sauna, and therapeutic‑grade stone sauna facilities — the stone sauna deeply warms the body with far‑infrared rays, and with the provided sauna wear, you can easily enjoy "lie‑down wellness." There's also the DR.fish doctor fish experience, which naturally cares for the skin on your feet, catering to the relaxation needs of all visitors.

Considerate Details: Complimentary towels, bath towels, shampoo, lotion and other amenities are provided, along with multilingual guidebook in Chinese/English/Korean. Visitors with tattoos can enter after covering them with stickers/tape. Children aged 3 and above are welcome (children require a paying adult to accompany them), so the whole family can enjoy the hot spring fun.

II. Core Advantages of the Hot Spring: Excellent Reputation and Great Value

Historical Significance and Therapeutic Benefits: As a core facility of this thousand‑year‑old spring, it upholds the spring quality standards of Arima Onsen, once reserved for nobility. From the era of the Emperor to the present day, its core focus has always been "healing power," making it ideal for relieving travel fatigue and improving everyday sub‑health conditions.

Comprehensive Facilities: From traditional open‑air baths and cave baths to modern stone saunas and steam saunas, it caters to both the classic bathing preferences of older guests and the wellness trends favoured by younger visitors — all without needing to travel between locations.

Highly Rated: With an overall rating of 5.0, scoring full marks for hygiene, service, and location, visitor reviews frequently praise the "excellent spring quality," "clean environment," and "attentive service." Its value for money is widely recognised.

Convenient Opening Hours: Open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 (last entry at 21:00). Whether you prefer daytime bathing with scenic views or an immersive evening relaxation, your schedule can be flexibly arranged.

IV. Must‑Visit Nearby Attractions: Cultural Experiences Beyond Bathing

Taiko no Yu is located in the heart of Arima Onsen Street, within walking distance of several distinctive attractions, making it easy to combine "hot springs + culture" into your itinerary:

Tansan Kosen (Carbonated Spring Source) Park: A 10‑minute walk away. The park features a natural carbonated spring (which was once the source ingredient for Japan's first domestic carbonated drink), free for visitors to sample. From the elevated platform, you can overlook the traditional Japanese architecture of the entire hot spring town — particularly healing at dawn or dusk.

碳酸泉源公园.jpg

Arima Onsen Street: Although Arima Onsen is separated from Kobe city only by Mount Rokko, it offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle, exuding a sense of serenity and tranquillity. The street is lined with many wooden traditional buildings, radiating a rustic and elegant Japanese charm.

温泉街.jpg

Yunohana Shrine: The "spiritual landmark" of the hot spring town, dedicated to the deity of hot springs. Visitors can pray for health and fertility, receive special charms like the "Tamahoko" and "Afuku," and experience the serene atmosphere of a traditional Japanese shrine.

汤泉神社.jpg

Arima Toy Museum: A 5‑minute walk away. It displays classic toys from Germany, Japan, and other countries, and features a parent‑child interactive area — a great spot for families with kids to enjoy a fun cultural experience after bathing.

Rokko Garden Terrace (including Night Views): Directly accessible from Taiko no Yu via the Rokko Arima Ropeway. The terrace offers 360° mountain views and a panorama of Osaka Bay. At night, millions of lights illuminate the area, complemented by glass walkways and European‑style gardens. It's a famous Kansai Instagram‑worthy night view spot — taking the ropeway to admire the lights after a hot spring soak is both romantic and healing.

Public Transport:

Kobe Electric Railway: Take the train to "Arima Onsen Station," then walk 8 minutes or take the free shuttle bus from the station.

From Osaka: Take the Hankyu bus from Umeda Station to "Arima Onsen Station," then walk 5 minutes.

Long‑Distance Direct Access: From Kansai International Airport or Kyoto, reachable within 2 hours without multiple transfers.

Driving: Approximately 200 free parking spaces are available, with a maximum stay of 4 hours per visit, allowing drivers to plan their itinerary flexibly without worrying about transport connections.

From the healing power of the thousand‑year‑old dual springs to the multi‑dimensional experience of "hot spring + gourmet food + culture," Taiko no Yu is not just a bathing destination but an exceptional choice for delving deep into Japanese hot spring culture. Whether it's solo relaxation, a romantic getaway, or a family trip, you're sure to find your own healing moment here.
