In the scorching summer heat, looking for a place where you can enjoy the scenery and escape the heat at the same time? Baomo Garden is an excellent choice. This classic Lingnan garden offers a refreshing breeze through the lotus in summer, showcasing the charm of the water town, allowing you to escape the summer heat and enjoy a leisurely visit.

Highlights
Baomo Garden is built around the theme of "water," and in summer, the water glistens beautifully. The thousand‑mu lotus pond is the biggest attraction. From June to August, the lotus flowers are in full bloom, with red, white, and pink blossoms adorning the green leaves. When a gentle breeze passes by, the fragrance of lotus fills the air. The Zidong Boat spans across the lake; taking a boat ride allows you to admire the lotus up close and experience the poetic charm of "boating on the water, seated in a painting." The pavilions and towers in the garden are built along the water, connected by winding corridors that provide shade and ventilation, making a stroll through the garden cool and comfortable. The Zhao Tailai Collection Hall houses numerous cultural relics, making it an ideal place to visit when escaping the midday sun.

Why You Must Visit
Visiting Baomo Garden in summer lets you experience the coolness of a "natural air conditioner." With water covering half of the entire garden, plus lush greenery, the temperature here is 3–5°C lower than in the city. During the lotus flower exhibition, there are also light shows at night, so you can avoid the daytime heat and enjoy a more comfortable evening tour. The garden is ideal for family outings — children can play with the fish in the shallow water areas, while adults can enjoy the scenery and relax, catering to different needs.

Getting There
By car: From Guangzhou city centre, navigate to "Baomo Garden Car Park" — about a 1‑hour drive, with parking at HK$5/hour.
By public transport: Take MTR Line 3 to Shiqiao Station, then transfer to Route Panyu 67 bus directly to Baomo Garden terminal. The whole journey takes about 1.5 hours.

Tips for Your Visit
Summer UV rays are strong, so be sure to wear a sun hat and apply sunscreen. Bring mosquito repellent as there are many mosquitoes near the water. Wear breathable sandals for easy access to the water. You can bring your own tea — the garden's pavilions are equipped with stone tables and benches, perfect for resting and enjoying a cup of tea. The best times for photos by the lotus pond are early morning or dusk, when the light is soft and the crowds are thinner.
