Canton Tower: A Fantastical Journey to the City's Peak, Unlocking the Ultimate Charm of Guangzhou

In the vibrant and enchanting city of Guangzhou, the Canton Tower is undoubtedly the most dazzling pearl, attracting visitors from around the world to explore. It is not only the tallest tourist tower in China and the third tallest in the world, but also, with its unique design and rich experiences, has become a city landmark showcasing Guangzhou's soaring momentum and open vision. Whether you yearn to overlook the entire cityscape, seek thrilling rides, or enjoy a romantic meal, the Canton Tower can fulfil all your travel fantasies, bringing you an unparalleled fantastical journey at the city's peak.

Unique Appearance, A Miracle of Architectural Art

The unique silhouette of the Canton Tower resembles a slender lady gracefully standing by the Pearl River, earning it the nickname "Slim Waist." Its prototype was inspired by the human hip bone. Designers Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit ingeniously connected two elliptical wooden discs with an elastic rubber rope. By rotating the top ellipse 45 degrees, a twisted shape emerged, which became the prototype of the Canton Tower.

Viewed from afar, the Canton Tower's steel structure is latticed and open. The tower body twists 45 degrees counter‑clockwise from bottom to top, with every cross‑section changing, and none of its over ten thousand components being identical, giving the structure a three‑dimensional inclined state. Its slender "body" is cast from high‑strength, high‑performance concrete, directly pumped to a height of 450 metres, setting a domestic record for the highest concrete pumping. Its flexible "skeleton" is welded from 50,000 tons of thick steel plates, with the steel pipe column diameter tapering from 2.0 metres at the base to 1.2 metres at the top, achieving an installation precision of 1/2000 and an error margin of no more than 5 millimetres. Its gleaming "coat" is made of high‑strength tempered laminated glass; to create a dynamic curved aesthetic, each triangular glass panel on the elliptical arc surface is a different size. As night falls, colourful lights flow slowly along the tower body, like a dreamy ribbon encircling it, reflecting off the shimmering Pearl River to create a breathtaking nocturnal scene, making it the most brilliant landmark along the new central axis.

Thrilling Rides, Challenging Your Heart's Limits

Bubble Tram: The world's highest horizontal Ferris wheel, located at a height of 455 metres on the tower top. The Bubble Tram consists of 16 "crystal" sightseeing cabins that run smoothly along a track tilted at a 15‑degree angle to the main structure. A domestically pioneered "rigid levelling device" ensures the cabins remain stable during operation. Riding in the transparent cabins, slowly revolving over a 20‑minute journey, you can enjoy a 360° view of Guangzhou. Taking a ride in the early evening allows you to see the city under the sunset's afterglow and then experience the dazzling lights after nightfall, capturing both the day and night beauty of Guangzhou in one go.

Sky Drop: Currently the world's highest vertical drop ride, located on the antenna mast at the ultra‑high altitude of 455‑485 metres on the Canton Tower. It features two sets of drop seats, offering not only traditional seated drops but also standing drops simulating free fall. You'll experience a 30‑metre rapid descent at speeds of up to 80 km/h in just over a second, making it the top choice for super brave souls to challenge their extreme altitude limits. Leaping from a height overlooking Guangzhou, plunging vertically in an instant, your heart races and adrenaline surges. That thrilling experience of breaking free from the earth's surface makes every challenger exclaim in excitement, leaving unforgettable memories.
