Must‑See Attractions Not to Be Missed
Huanhong Kualü Corridor Bridge: One of Yuyin Shanfang's iconic features, hailed as the most classic structure of Lingnan gardens. This covered arch bridge spans a lotus pond, measuring only 20 metres in length, yet ingeniously integrates the bridge, corridor, pavilion, and railings into a cohesive whole. The eaves and columns are adorned with openwork wooden carvings, and the railings along both sides of the walkway feature backrests.
Shenliu Hall: The main building in the garden, featuring a hipped roof, served as the host's reception area. Its name is derived from a Tang Dynasty poem: "A quiet gate faces the mountain path; deep in the willows, a study hall." The hall is spacious and bright, with large glass windows and doors that create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The interior is lavishly decorated, with antique Manchu windows set into the front walls and famous couplets hanging on the columns. The exquisite wood carving "Squirrel and Buddha's Hand Citron" is a double‑sided masterpiece, showcasing superb craftsmanship.

Linglong Waterside Pavilion: Also known as the Octagonal Pavilion, this structure features an octagonal roof with a rolled‑up ridge, located in the eastern part of the garden and surrounded by water on all sides. Its main entrance faces east, and the pavilion is octagonal in plan. With windows opening on eight sides, it is airy and translucent, serving as a venue where the garden owner gathered literati and scholars for poetry and prose composition. Inside, the pavilion has eight eave columns and four central columns, all made of belian wood. Looking out through the lattice‑framed long windows, one can enjoy eight different views: "Cinnamon welcomes the rising sun; willows grace the green pavilion; wintersweet blooms in profusion; rockeries form a miniature landscape; the rainbow bridge reflects clear light; the reclining gourd listens to zither tunes; the altar garden hides secluded paths; peacocks display their full plumage."
Linchi Bie Guan (Pavilion by the Pond): Originally a study, this building features a flush gable roof and fronts a square lotus pond. It is 9.85 metres wide and 6.5 metres deep, comprising one hall, one room, and a front veranda. The hall door is fitted with partition panels and glass decorative lattice windows, with a wooden plaque inscribed in clerical script reading "Linchi Bie Guan" (Pavilion by the Pond) above the door. The exterior walls are adorned with circular Manchu windows, decorated with grey plaster mouldings of "bat and ring" motifs. The central bay features a dense ice‑crack lattice partition adorned with gilded false windows. The roof is designed with a gentle slope to adapt to the typhoon‑prone climate of Lingnan.

Wopiao Lu (Reclining Gourd Cottage): Also known as Lanhe Hall (Olive Pit Hall), this building features a flush gable roof with fireproof walls and was designed as a resting place for the garden owner's guests and friends. Facing east, it measures 5.35 metres in width and 8.65 metres in depth, with two parallel bays: one hall and one room. The main entrance is located in the eastern corridor, fitted with four partition panels, with aprons carved with seasonal flowers. In front of the hall is a paved open area with patterned square bricks, furnished with stone tables and benches, surrounded by various flowering trees. The cottage's windows are uniquely designed: the north side features louver‑like windows that can be pushed open and closed for ventilation and lighting; the south side has a row of diamond‑shaped (commonly called "olive pit") lattice windows with blue‑and‑white glass, through which the blue glass offers unique seasonal‑like views.

Handy Tips for Your Visit
Dressing Suggestions: Yuyin Shanfang exudes classical charm, making it an ideal place to visit in Hanfu or modern Chinese‑style clothing for stunning photos that transport you back to ancient times. It is also recommended to wear comfortable flat shoes, as the garden paths are mostly paved with stone, facilitating extended walking.
Photo Opportunities: Every corner of the garden offers beautiful scenes. Besides the featured attractions, spots like the garden's turning points, lattice windows, and flower clusters can yield highly evocative photos. Use the garden's borrowing‑scenery techniques to incorporate distant pavilions, towers, trees, and blossoms into your shots. Early morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft, provides better colour and lighting effects for photography.
Important Notes: As a key national cultural heritage protection site, visitors should take care of all plants, ancient buildings, and cultural relics within the garden. Do not touch or deface them arbitrarily. At narrow pathways or popular photo spots, there may be queues; please be courteous and yield to others.
