He Art Museum (HEM) is located in Shunde, Guangdong. It is a non‑profit private museum founded by a family and designed by Tadao Ando.
He Art Museum is designed by architect Tadao Ando, with a total area of approximately 16,000 square metres, of which the exhibition hall area is about 8,000 square metres. By using fair‑faced concrete as the building material, Mr Ando integrates natural elements such as light, water and wind into this museum that embodies the cultural ambience of Lingnan architecture.

【About He Art Museum】
The architectural design of HEM blends contrasting features to form a building shape composed of simple circles and squares. The circle at the centre shifts its centre of gravity and scale as the height increases, producing an effect that gradually expands from the inside out, from the architecture to the city. This is a continuation of the ancient Central Plains architectural concept of "round sky and square earth", and also a symbolic interweaving of pure geometric solids, creating an architectural landscape with Lingnan architectural cultural characteristics that pays tribute to light and shadow.

· Double Helix Fair‑Faced Concrete Staircase
The architecture, from details to the overall composition, including the landscape design, unfolds layer by layer like ripples on water. At the centre lies a cylindrical five‑storey void space. A double spiral staircase winds downwards, forming a central circular space. The double helix fair‑faced concrete staircase, resembling a DNA structure, is a breathtaking highlight of HEM's architecture and also bears witness to the remarkable advances in Chinese construction technology.

Riverside Garden
The circulation route of the Riverside Garden subtly evokes the mood of a winding path leading to a secluded spot. Curved fair‑faced concrete partition walls are arranged and wrapped in an orderly manner throughout the garden, complemented by a variety of carefully selected pink‑flowering trees, making visitors feel as if they have walked along the banks for a few hundred steps and suddenly come upon a peach blossom grove, roaming poetically through the scenery. In this outdoor space, the landscape design is dominated by water features. The pond, which echoes the "circle" motif, serves as a water‑friendly installation to ease the intense heat of the subtropical summer. At the same time, when the building is reflected on the water surface, it becomes a distinctive base for the architecture.
