Foshan

Foshan City (official romanisation: Foshan, postal romanisation: Fatshan), abbreviated as Chan or Fat, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China. It is located in the southern part of Guangdong Province and is one of the cities covered by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is currently classified as a megacity. Foshan is the birthplace of Cantonese opera in China and is also a renowned home of sports, with the standards of Wing Chun, dragon boat racing, and lion dance enjoying a good reputation at home and abroad. Foshan has preserved many Lingnan traditional cultures, such as paper-cutting, pottery, woodblock New Year pictures, and lion art.
