Pingtung County
Pingtung County is located at the southernmost tip of southwestern Taiwan, and is the longest and narrowest county along the north-south axis of western Taiwan. It borders Kaohsiung City to the north, and to the east, it crosses the North Dawu Mountain to border Taitung County. Situated in a tropical region, it boasts a tropical ambience. In terms of industrial structure, Pingtung County places greater emphasis on agriculture and fisheries. However, in recent years, it has also vigorously promoted the tourism industry. Burdock, red beans, century eggs, salted duck eggs, red-yolk duck eggs, pineapples, mangoes, honey dates, wax apples (black pearls), as well as groupers, cherry shrimp, bluefin tuna, cocoa, and onions have become the most representative local specialties of Pingtung County. The sandy beach scenery of Nanwan in Kenting, the stunning seascape of Longpan Park, the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, and the Hengchun Ancient Town are among its notable attractions.
