The Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area was once one of Taiwan's three largest forestry sites. According to historical records, the mountain was discovered in 1911 and named "Baxianshan" (Eight Immortals) due to its elevation of approximately 2,410 meters. Forestry exploitation began in 1917, and the former sawmill has now been converted into the Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area. The Basianshan National Forest Recreation Area is surrounded by mountains, and from its summit, one can overlook the endless expanse of Yushan, Nenggaoshan, and Qilaishan. Lush forests and abundant birdlife abound within the mountains. The moisture and plants within the forest combine to emit abundant anions and phytoncides, beneficial to human health. For those living in the city, a refreshing breath of nature is in order. Within the park, the Shiwen and Jiabao Rivers converge. These rivers, originating from deep forests, are strewn with rocks and rapids, creating a unique landscape known as "Taiwan's Two Famous Springs." Basianshan's breathtaking scenery is truly captivating, making it an ideal destination for hiking, forest bathing, birdwatching, and a relaxing getaway. In addition to its captivating natural scenery, the amusement park boasts a wealth of attractions. Three forest-bathing trails have been specially designed for this purpose. The "Mengzong Bamboo Forest - Shrine and Elementary School Ruins" route takes visitors to a monument listed as one of Taiwan's Eight Scenic Spots, the ruins of the shrine, and Jinghai Temple, offering glimpses of its former prosperity. Along the way, visitors will find a vast, secluded bamboo forest and giant nanmu trees. The trailhead for Baxianshan is also unique here. The other two trails, "Shiwen Creek - Upstream" and "Downhill Stairs - Dam Area," follow the stream, offering refreshing waterside trails perfect for summer.
