Edinburgh Outdoor Escape Room Launches Burke and Hare Trail for Halloween Season

An outdoor escape room experience titled 'A Trail of Burke & Hare' is running in Edinburgh from 1st October 2026 to 1st November 2026. Organised by Escape The Past, the activity combines elements of a self-guided walking tour, a scavenger hunt, and an escape room across the Old Town.

Event Details and Route

Participants begin by collecting a satchel from the venue base at Basement 1, 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh South EH8 9BX. Players then follow historical maps to real sites from the period, including The Cowgate where a fictional body with historical wounds is discovered. The route covers 4 to 5 kilometres on foot and takes approximately 2 hours to complete, allowing time for food or coffee along the way.

Tickets and Requirements

Tickets are priced at £22 for adults and £15 for visitors under 18 years old, while children under 8 go free. The experience is suitable for groups ranging from 2 to 30 people. Players need a mobile phone with a data connection. Evening slots are available over the Halloween period, with torches supplied for participants taking on the trail after dark.
