Amsterdam Neighbourhood Project IN DE KOST Brings Community Events and Food to De Poorthuisjes
Travellers visiting Amsterdam can experience a local neighbourhood event at De Poorthuisjes on Molukkenstraat 68–70. The project, named IN DE KOST, runs until 27 September 2026. It is part of the Ode aan de Gemeenschap programme and features work by Indonesian artist Arie Syarifuddin from the Jatiwangi Art Factory during his six-week residency.

Events and Activities

The project explores historical colonial ties between the Netherlands and Indonesia through the topic of sugar. Activities include community gatherings where visitors can try Indonesian home-made soup, such as sweet mung bean soup, and sweets brought by neighbours. In parallel, Klazina runs the Klazien-o-theek space, inspired by historical housing supervisor Clasien Meursing. Visitors can join workshops or become members for free by filling in a card and dropping it through the letterbox.
