Paris Catacombs Launches First VOD Underground Virtual Tour

Travel back in time and uncover the hidden history of the Paris Catacombs through its newly launched Video on Demand (VOD) tour. Hosted for the first time by experts—curator Maximilien Durand, geographer and engineer Jules Querleux, and anthropologist Grégory Delaplace—this online excursion offers an in-depth virtual look into the famous underground site.
What to Expect from the Tour
The 40-minute guided video explores the underground labyrinth situated 25 metres beneath the surface. It shares scientific commentary, historical anecdotes, archive images, and archaeological insights spanning from the Lutetian era to 18th-century hygiene reforms and modern-day maintenance. Viewers will discover why this massive subterranean network exists, how it is preserved today, and why it holds more Parisians underground than above ground.
Pricing and Viewing Details
The virtual tour is available online for 5 euros, or 3 euros for Paris Musées Pass holders. The experience comes with both audio commentary and subtitles available in French and English.
