Running from 25 March to 20 September 2026, the exhibition offers visitors a deep dive into the diverse representations of women during the 18th century.

What to see at the exhibition
This captivating display brings together original period garments Alongside fine paintings, prints, and drawings. By comparing actual historical costumes directly with artworks, the presentation explores the intimate connection between period clothing and self-image during the Age of Enlightenment. Visitors will see how the new French style spread across European cities and royal courts through portraits of the aristocracy and urban upper middle class.
The exhibits explore both the physical reality of fashion and the idealized notions of beauty of the era. The selected artworks encompass formal portraits as well as charming pastoral scenes and fêtes galantes, reflecting how femininity was shaped by social expectations and creative fantasy.
