The Toronto International Film Festival is celebrating its 51st year, and as always it promises to be unforgettable. The streets will be packed with fans hoping to glimpse their favourite stars, cinephiles rushing to catch a great screening, and people simply soaking up the outdoor celebrations. This 10-day festival is set to be a standout.

Whether it's your first TIFF or your tenth, there's always something fresh to discover. To help make your festival experience one to remember, we've rounded up a guide covering everything you need to know.

Here's the essential rundown before TIFF 2026 gets underway.

When is TIFF?

The beloved annual event runs for 11 days, from Thursday, Sept. 10 to Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.

Where can I watch a movie?

Screenings are spread across several venues, largely along King Street. They include Roy Thomson Hall, the VISA Screening Room at the Princess of Wales Theatre, the Royal Alexandra Theatre, TIFF Lightbox and the Scotiabank Theatre.

What movies are playing?

As of this writing, this year's lineup features 293 titles, with the full list and schedule available online.

How much are tickets and how do I get them?

TIFF Members can save $2 on all Regular screening tickets during the pre-sale, which runs Aug. 21 to Aug. 27, 2026.

Regular screenings start at $30 online ($28 with member pricing).

Regular rush tickets are $32, while premium screenings begin at $46 and premium rush at $48.

Keep an eye out during the festival — you can even score tickets from $15.

Tickets are available to purchase online.

Will there be a street festival this year?

Organizers confirm that Festival Street is returning, with more activation details to be announced soon.

Each year the festivities unfold along King Street, from Peter Street to University Avenue.

Who are the celebrities coming this year?

TIFF has welcomed its fair share of stars over the years — I've personally spotted (from a distance) Jennifer Lopez, Orlando Bloom, Ryan Reynolds and Benedict Cumberbatch.

This year we're bound to see both new and familiar faces. The festival's “In Conversation With…” series will bring Lee Min-ho, Rachel Morrison, Chris Rock, Andrew Scott and Hudson Williams to the stage for “intimate conversations about their creative journeys, craft, and careers.”

While not yet officially confirmed, a number of these celebrities are expected to have films premiering, including:

Where can I go to eat?

King Street is packed with fantastic places to eat and drink during TIFF. Drop by (or better yet, make a reservation) at one of the neighbourhood's local restaurants.

Some of my favourites include Hey Lucy, Minami, Pai, Miss Likklemores and Primadonna.

Another gem worth checking out is Maxime's, tucked away on Portland Street just steps from King Street, with a lovely outdoor patio and an intimate indoor space.

There are far too many to list — and the same goes for drinks! Pop into Vinny's, Mister C, Coffee Oysters Champagne or Tulum; the options are nearly endless.

And if you want to keep the party going, there are plenty of late-night experiences around King Street and Portland Avenue.

I could go on forever, but the rest is up to you to discover.

What else is there to do?

The party never stops during TIFF — day or night, there's always plenty going on.

While the full festivities lineup has yet to be announced, here are a few things to get excited about:

Deadline Portrait Studio at BISHA Hotel Toronto — The BISHA Hotel will once again be the epicentre of TIFF magic, hosting the Deadline Portrait Studio and welcoming a steady stream of celebrity guests throughout the festival.
