Kaohsiung Family Amusement Park Opens: Taiwan's Largest Semi-Indoor Playground with 30+ Free Rides & Water Park
Taiwan's largest semi-indoor amusement park — the Kaohsiung Family Amusement Park — officially opened on August 8! The Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau has announced three consecutive weekends of special summer events starting from the 8th, including an outdoor inflatable water park, YOYO celebrity meet-and-greets, cartoon character interactions, family stage performances, and a themed market. Highlights include a 6-meter-high urban waterslide and a carousel, with timed entry sessions to manage crowds.

The Tourism Bureau noted that the park is a revitalization project of the former Taiwan Railway Kaohsiung Depot, making it not only the largest facility of its kind in Taiwan by land area but also Kaohsiung's first public semi-indoor family amusement space combining recreation and education.

The park preserves the depot's original high-ceiling steel structure and industrial railway architecture while introducing diverse functions including physical exploration, parent-child interaction, and educational experiences. It features over 30 free attractions such as an overhead crane rope art installation, bouldering wall, parkour training ground, cloud trampolines, and wheeled ramp courses — all sheltered from the weather for year-round family fun.

To celebrate the grand opening, the city government is running bonus weekend events throughout August, adding the 6-meter "Urban Waterslide" inflatable water park, carousel, inflatable maze, and more — with age-appropriate zones ensuring safe water play and fun for kids of all ages.

The surrounding green spaces have been transformed into a large cartoon character photo zone, featuring beloved mascots including Shoushan Zoo's Shou Q Family, Lisa and Gaspard, PINGU, YOYOMAN, and YAMY in giant inflatable form.
The outdoor inflatable water park operates on timed entry with 8 sessions daily, each lasting 45 minutes with a 250-person capacity. Of these, 150 spots are available via on-site queue tickets — morning sessions (4 slots) begin distribution at 9:30 AM, and afternoon sessions (4 slots) at 1:30 PM, while supplies last. The remaining 100 spots per session can be reserved online through the Kaohsiung Digital Citizen system, with a maximum of 4 reservations per account.
Visitors can take the Kaohsiung Light Rail to "Kaisyuan Wuchang Station" — just a 1-minute walk from the park — or Bus 100 to the "Railway Depot" stop on Wuqing Road. To accommodate the expected crowds, the Transportation Bureau is also running a free weekend shuttle between MRT Orange Line "Cultural Center Station Exit 3" and the Light Rail "Kaisyuan Wuchang Station," operating from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM every 20 minutes throughout August weekends.
