7 Beachside Escapes Near Tokyo for a Perfect Summer Weekend
Tokyo residents are fortunate to be within easy reach of numerous coastal getaways, and there's no finer way to spend a summer weekend than soaking up the sun beside the ocean. In Japan, the most fashionable way to enjoy the beach is at an umi no ie — a seasonal beach house. These pop-up surfside venues are a quintessential summer attraction, delivering everything needed for a full day by the water.

Expect meals and cocktails, plus the option to rent loungers and parasols for an elevated experience. Certain beach houses even boast luxury lounges, while others organise watersports. Below, our curated list of the finest beach houses within striking distance of Tokyo this season.
Oasis — Hayama
Nestled between a verdant forest and Hayama's sandy shore, Oasis is a long-standing favourite where food, music and ocean views come together. The calendar is packed with live performances spanning multiple genres: catch singer-songwriter Sonoko Inoue (Aug 14), Yokohama rock-reggae outfit Youth of Roots (Jul 23), rapper Coma-Chi alongside Pushim and dancehall act Home Grown (Aug 5), plus DJ sets from former NHK radio personality Peter Barakan (Aug 21).
On the food front, don't miss the charcoal-grilled Jamaican jerk chicken paired with Hayama-grown vegetables, gaprao rice, and a special karabashi curry rice available only on Fridays and Sundays.
Season: Until August 30 | Address: Morito Beach, Horiuchi, Hayama, Miura-gun, Kanagawa
Minatoya — Miura Peninsula
Tucked away on a secluded stretch of the western Miura Peninsula near Misaki, Minatoya charms visitors with its crystal-clear shallows, private beachfront and eclectic music programming. From DJ sets and afrobeats to reggae and dance showcases, the line-up is diverse. Time your visit for a scheduled event day — opening hours extend to 7pm on those dates. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the latest schedule.
Season: Until September 6 | Address: Yokobori Beach, 1168 Koajiro, Misaki, Miura, Kanagawa
Motona Beach Club — Chiba
Roughly 70 minutes by car from central Tokyo, Motona Beach debuted a sleek private beach club in 2025, pairing oceanfront panoramas with curated music and an extensive food-and-drink menu.
Run by the team behind Botanical Pool Club, the sprawling wooden deck features beach beds, cabanas, a private jacuzzi room and larger sofa suites suited to groups. The venue is also available for exclusive hire — ideal for private celebrations. A complimentary shuttle links the two locations, making this Chiba duo perfect for a coastal escape. Entry is priced from ¥2,000 per person (¥4,000 on weekends and public holidays), with seat reservations charged separately and strongly advised.
Season: Until October 31 | Address: Motona Coast, 145-1 Kyonan, Awa-gun, Chiba
Seaside Living Zushi
This easygoing Zushi beach house features a smart bar pouring refreshing cocktails throughout the day. The food menu comes courtesy of Cafe and Dining Sakae, which takes pride in showcasing locally sourced ingredients from Zushi and the neighbouring area.
While the 2026 menu is still under wraps, look forward to a revamped beachside barbecue offering beginning at ¥4,500 per person.
Season: Until September 6 | Address: Zushi Beach, 2-10-18 Shinjuku, Zushi, Kanagawa
Sunset Beach Park Inage — Chiba
Four decades since Inage Seaside Park first opened, Chiba Prefecture has been breathing new life into the attraction. Alongside newer parks, restaurants, a glamping zone and an outdoor pool (all added in summer 2022), the park now features an impressive 90-metre wooden deck stretching out from the sandy beach along a 1.2 km pier. Weekends and holidays are the liveliest, with live music drawing energetic crowds.
Season: Seaside Café open year-round | Address: Inage Seaside Park, 7-2 Takahama, Mihama-ku, Chiba
Happy Go Lucky — Zushi
A stalwart of the Zushi beach scene for over a decade, Happy Go Lucky remains a firm local favourite thanks to its resort-style flair. Drop by the bar and dining area anytime — the main dishes rotate daily. Round out your meal with sides such as Octopus Ajillo (¥800), Whitebait and Chilled Tomato Salad (¥600), Honey Mustard Chicken Pizza (¥1,200) and Italian sodas (¥650).
For a more active outing, join an outdoor yoga session at 9am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (or 8am on weekends) for ¥2,500. Spaces are limited, so book ahead via Instagram DM.
Chotto Yacht Beach Marina Enoshima
This rustic American pier-inspired beach house on Katase Higashihama coast, steps from Enoshima Island, occupies one of the area's premier waterfront spots. The generous outdoor barbecue menu includes beef, pork belly and offal, plus an abundance of vegetables for DIY grilling. Seafood fans can swap to a marine-focused barbecue plan instead. Barbecue packages start at ¥4,290 per person, with online reservations available.
If you'd rather simply unwind, facility access — including lockers, showers and changing rooms — costs ¥2,000. The beach house pool can be used for ¥3,500, which also covers the facility fee.
Season: Until September 6 | Address: Katase Higashihama Coast, 1-15 Katasekaigan, Fujisawa, Kanagawa
