Qantas Unveils Non-Stop Sydney–Las Vegas Route Starting December 2026

A direct connection between Australia's harbour city and America's entertainment capital is finally on the horizon

Get ready to roll the dice on a game-changing new flight path. Qantas has confirmed the launch of a historic non-stop service linking Sydney and Las Vegas, kicking off on 29 December 2026. The seasonal route will run through to 12 March 2027, with three weekly departures on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays aboard Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. At just under 14 hours in the air, travellers will save roughly five hours compared to current itineraries that require a layover.

Flight QF55 is scheduled to depart Sydney at 9pm and touch down in Las Vegas at 3:55pm local time, giving passengers the entire evening to explore the famous Strip, catch the Bellagio fountain show, or dive straight into the city's legendary dining and entertainment scene. This milestone marks Qantas's 101st global destination and its fifth mainland US city, adding to an American portfolio that already includes Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and New York.

Beyond the slot machines and glittering façades, Las Vegas has evolved into a multifaceted destination. The city hosts marquee events like the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), draws A-list concerts and major sporting fixtures, and doubles as a gateway to the spectacular landscapes of the American Southwest — the Grand Canyon is just a short trip away.

The numbers speak volumes: more than a quarter of a million Australians travel to Las Vegas annually, making the country the city's largest international market previously without a direct air link. The new service also opens a convenient corridor for American visitors eager to experience Australia's beaches, cities, and outback.

With no stopovers eating into holiday time, travellers can maximise every moment on the ground. As they say in Nevada: what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas — and now it's easier than ever to get there.
