Regent Taipei Brasserie Launches Summer 'Yatai' Festival: All-You-Can-Eat Grilled Squid, Okonomiyaki & More
As the 2026 Dadaocheng Summer Festival kicks off on July 25, Regent Taipei's Brasserie (栢麗廳) is bringing back its wildly popular 'Natsu Matsuri Yatai' (Summer Festival Street Stall) event. From now through the end of August, lunch and dinner buffets feature an irresistible lineup of Japanese street food classics — grilled squid, salt-grilled ayu sweetfish, Japanese karaage fried chicken, okonomiyaki, crispy fried octopus legs, and over 10 other specialities, all available as part of the all-you-can-eat spread. Download the 'Regent Club' app during the event period to receive dining vouchers: NT$500 off for two diners, and up to NT$1,000 off for groups of four.

The Grill Station: A Sizzling Feast
The Yatai event recreates the nostalgic atmosphere of a Japanese summer festival. At the heart of it all is the grill station, where chefs fire up charcoal-kissed soy-glazed squid, tender miso-glazed pork ribs, buttery grilled corn, and piping-hot okonomiyaki. On weekends, the experience is elevated with whole salt-grilled ayu sweetfish — a true seasonal delicacy.

Hot Food Counter: Japanese Classics Galore
The hot food station is equally impressive, featuring Japanese fried chicken (karaage), crispy chicken wings (tebasaki), and perfectly fried octopus legs. Beyond the fried offerings, diners will find Hokkaido-style creamy crab gratin, sesame beef sukiyaki, matsutake mushroom and truffle risotto, Wagyu hamburg steak, sesame sweet potato croquettes, Japanese-style stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and the ever-popular yakisoba pan — stir-fried noodles tucked into a soft bread roll.

Seafood & Desserts
The seafood counter boasts a showstopping sweet shrimp and salmon oyako-don, layering fresh salmon, glistening salmon roe, and sweet shrimp over vinegared rice made with prized Chishang rice from Taitung. For dessert, indulge in a parade of traditional Japanese sweets: mizu yokan (water agar jelly), grilled soy sauce dango, warabi mochi, Rikyu manju buns, brown sugar kuzukiri, daifuku, and — for the ultimate summer treat — Japanese-style shaved ice.

Bonus: Sushi Express × Hutong BBQ Collaboration
In other food news, Sushi Express's 'Teishoku 8' has teamed up with famed Hutong BBQ for a limited-time 'Flame-Grilled Meat Feast' running through October 14. Three collaborative dishes bring Japanese grilling techniques to the teishoku format: the 'Wagyu & Grilled Eel Duo' features slow-grilled Taiwanese farmed eel paired with rich Wagyu minced pork rice and M8 Australian Wagyu beef soup; the 'Flame-Grilled Twin Beef' showcases both diaphragm and brisket cuts marinated in Hutong's signature BBQ sauce; and the 'Demi-Glace Beef Hamburg Steak' crowns Hutong's signature beef-pork patty with a luscious sweet demi-glace sauce.
