National Taiwan Museum Main Hall + Museum of Paleontology
Established in 1908, the National Taiwan Museum, formerly known as the Taiwan Governor's Museum, is the oldest museum in Taiwan, with its main focus on natural history collections. The Museum of Paleontology was formerly the Taipei Branch of the Industrial Bank of Japan. It was designated as a Grade 3 historic site by the Ministry of the Interior in 1991, reclassified as a Taipei City Historic Site in 1997, and has been managed by the National Taiwan Museum for restoration and subsequent operations since 2005, positioned as a museum of natural history and financial history.

National Taiwan Museum Nanmen Hall

In 1897, the Taiwan Governor's Office established the opium monopoly, and in 1899, built the Monopoly Bureau Taipei Nanmen Factory, which became a key production base for manufacturing and testing two major monopoly goods: camphor and opium. Renamed Nanmen Factory in 1901, and further renamed Taipei Nanmen Factory in 1931, it was the only public camphor processing plant in Taiwan during the Japanese era. Today, only the camphor warehouse (hereafter referred to as the Red Building), the goods warehouse (hereafter referred to as the Little White House), a 400‑koku water tank, and a section of the factory's red brick wall remain. In 1998, the Nanmen Factory was designated as a national historic site by the Ministry of the Interior, and in 2006, it was transferred to the National Taiwan Museum by the National Property Administration, incorporated into the Capital Museum Group System project, and restored and repurposed as an exhibition hall.

National Taiwan Museum Railway Department Park

The national historic site of the Taiwan Governor's Office Railway Department was the site of the Qing‑era Taipei Machinery Bureau, the first modern train repair industrial park in Taiwan, and later became the management centre for the entire island's railway network. After the completion of the new Taipei Station in 1989 and the relocation of the Taiwan Railways Administration headquarters, the space fell idle. In 2006, the National Taiwan Museum partnered with the Taiwan Railways Administration to promote the transformation of the Railway Department into a museum park.

The Railway Department historic site exhibition features four themed galleries, six digital guided tours, and twenty on‑site deconstruction survey displays, presenting the historical grandeur and architectural features of the Railway Department. From a restoration documentation perspective, it also takes visitors back to the restoration site, offering a glimpse into the craftsmen, techniques, and considerations involved in the heritage restoration process. The many fascinating aspects of the Railway Department's historic architecture await your on‑site discovery.
