You don't need a ticket to Honolulu to soak up Hawaiian vibes — a new free exhibition at the Jardin du Luxembourg brings the islands to Paris.
Until July 28, ocean breezes, rolling waves, and sunset hues are sweeping through the 6th arrondissement. The Orangerie du Sénat, nestled within the Luxembourg Gardens, hosts SHINGISM — Ukiyo-e Banashi, a free exhibition by Japanese artist SHINGIIIIII.
Now based in Hawaii, the artist's paintings fuse the heritage of traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints — whose most famous master is Hokusai — with the technicolour natural beauty of his adopted island home. His canvases blend Pacific Ocean rollers with lush vegetation, legendary sunrises and sunsets, and characters straight out of paradise. A perfect excuse to wander through the Senate gardens before lounging on those iconic green metal chairs.
