Jakarta's '60 Seconds to Tokyo' Japanese Street Food Fest Kicks Off Across 139 Hotels

Following the success of its Korean Street Food Festival — '60 Seconds to Seoul' — Archipelago Hotels, Southeast Asia's largest private hotel management group, has launched its next culinary blockbuster: '60 Seconds to Tokyo', a Japanese Street Food Festival that debuted at Hotel Neo Kota Baru Parahyangan in Bandung on 23 July 2026.

Part of the Archipelago Global Flavours Series, this edition puts Japan in the spotlight, showcasing an array of signature dishes inspired by Tokyo's electric street food scene. A live-cooking format puts the action front and centre — guests watch every dish come together in real time, capturing the speed, precision, and energy that define Japanese street food culture.

The '60 Seconds to Tokyo' campaign runs from July through December 2026 and spans an impressive 139 Archipelago Hotels properties across Indonesia. Beyond the festival itself, participating hotels will serve special Japanese-themed menus via dine-in, room service, and online delivery — making an authentic taste of Tokyo accessible without a plane ticket.

Nine properties across West Java, Greater Jakarta, and Banten joined forces for the launch, including Harper M.T. Haryono Jakarta, Aston Priority Simatupang, Harper Cikarang, Grand Aston Puncak, and Hotel Neo Kota Baru Parahyangan as the host venue.

The festival transformed the hotel's Noodles Now Restaurant and ballroom into a slice of Tokyo. A manga-and-newspaper-themed photo corner set the scene, while entertainment ranged from cosplay walks and Japanese idol dance performances to a thundering taiko drum show. A DJ kept the energy high with a curated mix of J-Pop, anime soundtracks, and electronic beats, rounded out with interactive games and prize quizzes.

Adding a personal touch, festival ambassadors Ren — of Indonesian-Japanese heritage — and Reina, a Japanese national living in Indonesia, greeted guests and invited them to explore the diverse flavours on offer. Their presence embodied the campaign's core promise: an authentic Japanese culinary experience, delivered right here in Indonesia.
