Khum Kantoke Center opened in 2000. President Mr. Wachara is a native of Chiang Mai. The original intention was to give back to the local community, to let future generations learn, and to allow local and foreign tourists to experience the Lanna cultural traditions of Northern Thailand, including clothing culture, language culture, food culture, and song and dance performance culture, while showcasing the long‑standing architectural style of Northern Thailand.

"Khan Toke" is a typical Thai meal used to entertain distinguished guests. Dishes are placed on a specially designed table to serve visitors to Northern Thailand. It is usually served as dinner, but is now rarely seen. During the meal, you can also enjoy Northern Thai folk dances and traditional finger dances performed by villagers. It is said to have been invented by the wife of King Rama V and is still learned by girls in Chiang Mai today, usually used to welcome members of the royal family or distinguished guests.

Currently in Chiang Mai city, there are two restaurants specialising in Khantoke meals: one is "Khum Khantoke" and the other is "Old Chiang Mai Culture Center". The business models of these two are largely the same, both adopting the Lanna Cultural Village style, with traditional architecture, large banquet halls, and traditional dance performances. This product is for dining at the Khum Khantoke restaurant.

During Khantoke dining, there are no dining tables, only low round tables. Diners must remove their shoes beforehand, then sit cross‑legged on the floor around the "Khan Ma". In the old days, Khantoke dinners were lit by candles, but now electric lights with dim lighting are used instead. Before eating, a cool drink is served, followed by the dishes, with sticky rice placed in a traditional bamboo basket. During the meal, Lanna folk dances and music are performed to add to the fun, creating a pleasant and distinctive atmosphere. Enjoying a royal dinner while watching a song and dance show truly makes you feel like a king, especially when lying sideways on a triangular pillow. That posture is a 100% royal experience. Friends visiting Thailand must not miss this stop.
